Apple have recently announced that iAds which will allow software developers to put adverts within apps will launch in the UK next month.

The new platform already has over 12 commercial partners signed up including L’Oréal, Louise Vuitton, Perrier and Absolute Radio.

Currently rival Google dominates global mobile advertising with their Android Operating System. Its hoped that the new iAds platform will enable Apple to claim a large share of the mobile advertising market which is expected to be worth £8.4bn by 2013.

The US version of iAds was launched back in June this year and has already signed up half of the countries top 25 advertisers.

The introduction of iAds in the UK will probably mean that many apps will be available free of charge as the developers will be able to fund them through advertising.

Vice President of iAds, Andy Miller said “In just 4 months, we’ve doubled the number of advertisers on the network and thousands of developers now have a valuable source of revenue.”
