Popular online auctioneer eBay has recently done a promotion in the US where they paid cash for broken and non working Apple iPods, iPhones and iPads.

The promotion which took place through eBay’s Instant Sale Programme paid their customers up to $150 for a broken iPad, $100 for an iPhone and $50 for an iPod.

In addition to paying users cash for their broken devices they also donated $5 to an environmental organisation for every item that was recycled.

Vice President for hard goods on eBay Market Places, Gregory Boutte said “We are thrilled with the momentum that the instant sale trade-in platform in the USA has seen on eBay both from a business and an environmental perspective.”

Other recycling sites that offer UK residents the chance to recycle broken iPods, iPhones and iPads in return for cash include Mone4urMobile and Mobile Cash Monster.
