iPods and iPhones are the latest must have gadgets designed and marketed by Apple inc. Apple iPods were released over 8 years ago at a time when most digital music players were either big and clunky or small and lacked features, the iPod solved this problem as it was small but allowed you to have up to 1000 songs in your pocket. Since then Apple iPods have been a massive success around the world already selling over 220 million units around the world.

iPods Causing Huge Amounts of E-Waste and Big Problems to Our Environment

Although Apple have been so successful with the iPods and they are the best digital music player, however they create a huge E-waste problem which causes big problems to the environment.

Apple have designed iPods to be replaceable with a better model so the old ones are often just discarded.

The battery life on an average iPod is only 400 charges or 2 years so rather than buy a new battery many people will simply buy the latest model and throw the old one in the bin where the ipod will end up on a landfill.

Once they end up at landfill ipods contain hazadous materials and are almost un-biodegradable takes 100's of years to break down

When people are on the move their brains have lots to take in and using gadgets such as iPods and mobile phones mean that they can’t concentrate on too many things at once. This is when accidents happen such as people walking into traffic.

AA President, Edmund King said “We can’t stop the march of technology but we need to halt the iPod pedestrian, cycle and driver zombies. Whether on two feet, two wheels or four, too many people are suffering from iPod oblivion.”

Some people have even been seen checking their e-mails on their mobile phones whilst passing cars.
