Sell your old iPod for cash at Money4urMobile or Mobile Cash Monster.

Apple have designed iPods to be replaceable with a better model so the old ones are often just discarded.

The battery life on an average iPod is only 400 charges or 2 years so rather than buy a new battery many people will simply buy the latest model and throw the old one in the bin where the ipod will end up on a landfill.

Once they end up at landfill ipods contain hazadous materials and are almost un-biodegradable takes 100's of years to break down

Apple Ships iMac and Macbook Computer Systems with PVC Free Power Cords

In the latest environmental news from Apple they are now shipping their popular iMac and Macbook computer systems in the US with PVC free power cords.

Apple engineers worked with manufacturers and their partners to find a safe alternative to PVC which has now been found. All their MAC systems are shipped with PVC free internal cables.

If PVC is incinerated or manufactured without the proper controls then toxic compounds can be generated which is why Apple has taken the decision to get rid of it from all their computer systems.

Apple are currently working with agencies outside of the US to get the necessary certification needed to ship their PVC free power cords with all systems worldwide.

Apple Demands Woolworths Australia gets Rid of New Green ‘Cabbage’ Logo

Woolworths Australia v Apple

Woolworths Supermarket Chain in Australia recently changed their logo to a big green ‘W’ to let their customers know that they are committed to providing fresh produce. Unfortunately, Apple the technology giant has launched a legal challenge against them as they say it looks too much like their own silver ‘apple’ icon.

The new ‘W’ logo does look a little bit similar although the big difference is that is green rather than silver and looks more like a cabbage. Apple has applied to the Australian body of intellectual property to have the new trademark rejected as they say that consumers may get confused between the 2 brands.

Although Woolworths says that the ‘W’ is merely supposed to look like a piece of fresh produce and not an Apple, Apple are worried in case Woolworths bring out any electronic products in the future which may confuse consumers into thinking that they are their own.

Apple has had other legal disputes over ‘Apple’ trademarks in the past include the long running case with Apple Corps and another with Apple Computers.

Woolworths Australia is in no way associated with the failed business Woolworths in the UK.

Apple Praised for Cutting Down on Chlorine and Bromine from their Products

Apple and 6 other companies have taken major steps to remove dangerous chemicals, Chlorine and Bromine from their products according to a report issued by not for profit organization ChemSec.

The 7 companies listed have found that there are alternatives to these chemicals which are still cost effective and much safer for the environment that can be used instead without compromising on product performance.

Chlorine and Bromine are both used in plastic resin such as PVC and flame retardants. When electronic waste is burned they give off a toxic compound called dioxin which is dangerous to both the environment and even humans.

Apple has many products that are completely free from PVC and brominated flame retardants including all products in the iPod and iPhone range.

Other companies that were praised in the report for cutting right down on these chemicals included Sony Ericsson, Seagate and Silicon Storage.
